He was just a Sailor man, his life was of the sea. All he wished for were blue skies, a calm and shiny sea.

Verse 2
The Sailors love was Nancy, a beauty, yes indeed.
She loved the Sailor truly, but her heart would ache and bleed,
when the Sailor left his home port, for distant shores unknown.
Nancy’s rosey cheeks, would turn a dreadful, ghostly pale.

Verse 3
A course was set, towards the lands, that promised rich rewards. Calcutta, Bombay, Shanghai would trade their goods, for sure.
The sailor spied a ‘flash of light’, in the darkness far,
And knew the night would bring a storm, with seas of frightening hight.

Wind, and rain was upon them. Canvas lowered fast. Captains orders heeded, a creaking from the mast.
The ship was tossed and turned, almost inside-out.
Huge waves battered and crashed, but the ship stood her ground.

The ‘morn greeted them kindly, Sun shone its golden rays. From the ‘crow a ‘Land aHoy’ , warmed all the crew below. soon they’d all be furrow bound, with food and drink galore. Smiles of ‘what would be’, helped them toil even more.

At last the ship turned for home, with goods ‘too many to count’. The Sailor thought of Nancy, his love would smile and laugh. When he reached her loving arms, happiness would strike a hold. All the crew worked tirelessly for their homes were nearing fast.

There she was a waiting and waving from the shore.
The Sailor bid farewell to his crew, and hurried to her arms.
His lovely Nancy’s beaming smile, showed her mind was now at ease glad to be united again, a safe return for all.
